The name of the room was inspired by the constellation of Lyra (Λύρα in Greek), a small, dim constellation, home to the fifth brightest star in the sky, Vega. In Greek mythology, the legend of Lyra tells the story of Orpheus and its lyre (or harp), who was the son of Apollo and the muse Calliope. Apollo gave his son the lyre as a gift and taught him how to play it, while Calliope trained him in the art of poetry. Orpheus’ music was said to be so great that even inanimate objects such as rocks could be charmed.
